I have seen and made some for my own home, I wanted to show you all that is also a great DIY project for a wedding or event.

Painting with baking soda is the perfect way to get the DIY faux ceramic vases.

It adds texture to the paint and dries with a beautiful clay-like look.

It is as simple as mixing the baking soda into your chosen paint.

The more textured you want the vase to look the more baking soda you need to add.

I liked some texture but didn’t want lots so I added a few tablespoons.

Start small adding a little more each time.

Also, test a vase with different amounts, and see how it dries and which texture you prefer.

I tried using a sponge brush at first but realized that it was best to use a normal paintbrush.

It was easier to get the paint onto the vase.

I had to paint softly as I didn’t want to leave brush strokes.

Since doing this video I now use a sponge on the last coat to give a better texture feel.

I think these vases look stunning with dried flowers.

Dried flowers are also a good choice for DIY weddings as you can make everything beforehand and store it.

They work with any flowers though and look great with some candles for a simple but stylish table centerpiece.
